This article provides a brief description of the relationship of a teacher in computer Interaction. In other sense, the computer-related attitudes with age, computer experience, cognitive style, and personality factors of secondary school teachers. Through this, I will try to highlight what is the importance of a teacher when he interacts with computers.
Factors That Will Likely Affect Computer Interaction?
The rapid growth in sciences technology has influenced the field of education. Today, computers are the main things to deliver online as well as offline high-quality content. So, in the coming future how effective this technique will be is concerned with a few factors to improve effective interaction with computer systems.
Nevertheless, the principles used in the techniques and strategies implied in the instructional method and equipment will most likely affect the computer-related behaviors.
A report prepared for the American Federation of teachers found that throughout history, technology has had and will continue to have a profound impact on colleges and universities around the globe (Phipps and Merisotis, 1999). Age is important factor for a teacher. According to the Oxford dictionary and thesaurus III (2006), age means the length of past life or existence. At different developmental stages, a person has to perform a different type of activities. These activities are generally controlled by his/her nature, capabilities and likings.
The influence of age has not been studied in the case of teachers. Therefore, age of teachers was considered to study. Another factor affecting computer interaction is “Experience”. It plays an important role in learning a particular activity. Computer experience refers to time spent in doing an activity with the help of a computer. It comes through the practical acquaintance with computer. The skill gained through time spent doing computer activity leads to perfection in computer work.

Teacher’s Knowledge in Computer Interaction:
Classrooms are changing rapidly and becoming a multimedia environment. The students and teachers use the media that best support the learning and computer is a major kind of media in the classroom to accomplish the goals of learning. A necessary condition for teachers to use computer technology is that they first must learn how to use it in learning. It depends upon their attitude and how they do computer interaction.
Concept and Development of Computer-Related Attitudes:
The attitude indicates the tendency of a person to favor or reject particular groups of individual, set of ideas or social institutions. According to Britt, an attitude is a mental state of readiness, exerting directives or dynamic influences upon the individual response to all objects and situation with which it relates. Attitude of an individual is influenced by cultural, social, psychological and functional factors.
Consequently, while studying the computer-related attitudes, the researchers have considered various aspects that are as follows.
- Confidence in computer use
- 28 computer anxiety
- Liking for computer
- The usefulness of computer
- Use of computer in giving instruction, etc.
How does Teacher React to the use of Computer Technology?
The success of any new educational program on computer technology depends strongly upon the support and attitude of teachers. Moreover, studies show that there was a relationship between teaching manner and technology.
It is also found that there were 29 relationships of teaching manner with technology and its different variables. These variables were the teacher’s belief about the usefulness of technology and integration of technology in instruction. The theoretical framework of the above-mentioned discoveries guide to examine the measures like background and attitude of the teacher and also his concern in the use of computer technology at the secondary level. Therefore in the present study, the investigator decided to study the computer-related attitude among secondary school teachers and its relationship with the selected individual characteristics.
Teacher’s Characteristics and Computer Related Attitudes:
Some researchers have studied computer psychology related to its attitude and experience and other computer-related reactions with respect to teacher’s socio-psychological background.
What was the manner of study?
The focus was on the study of the relationship of computer-related attitude compared to teachers’ character. The age, computer experience, cognitive style and personality factor of secondary school teachers were taken up to study their relationship with computer-related attitudes.
However, there was the least possibility of taking up all these factors altogether. It was not possible to take up all of these variables simultaneously. So, it was better to consider them separately. Age is an important factor. People have different sort of developmental tasks based on different age factor. The teachers were divided into four groups on the basis of their age.
Use of Computer in Education:
In modern-day education, computers play an important role for varied purposes, not only students but by the teachers and administrators also. The educational administrators use the computers extensively to maintain their files for various purposes.
The educational data has been analyzed with the help of computer by the educational planners regularly for meaningful decisions. Being used for various purposes in education, the teacher’s main concern is to improve the teaching-learning process with the help of a computer. For this cause, it is necessary that the teacher should have sufficient knowledge of the functioning of the computer.
